Kearney School District Aims to Make a Better Community

Kearney School District Education Foundation (KSDEF) is a program that brings together area business and community leaders who value education to guide and direct resources outside of the district budget. The Foundation provides opportunities to enrich the educational experience for students and staff of the Kearney School District.

KSDEF tries to fund Teacher Innovation Grants, scholarships, and special requests from clubs, educational programs, etc.

Robin Tarr, a representative of KSDEF, is really looking forward to The Rise and Shine Breakfast. The event takes place on April 22 from 7 AM to 9 AM. The breakfast is a fundraiser for the organization.

Honors students and young student council members will serve as hosts. Breakfast will consist of country ham, cheesy casserole, eggs, cinnamon rolls, and coffee. Also, included with the breakfast will be a “Mingle Hour.” During the first hour attendees will be able to get to know some of the members from the community.

KSDEF also helped with a memorial fund of a young man in the Kearney School District. They decided to donate a “buddy bench” for the playground. When kids need a friend to play with, they can go over to the bench and another friend will ask them to play.

Robin Tarr said, “We really just hope that this becomes a success and that everyone comes out and supports the community.”
