It has been a busy week in the lieutenant governor’s office. Visitors from all over the state have stopped to talk to my office about issues affecting Missourians. Thank you to each and every person for taking the time to visit the office. It is an honor to do the people’s work.

This week I met with the Columbia Chamber of Commerce and several other organizations and individuals who advocate for Missouri’s businesses. They are the heart of our state, and should have every opportunity to thrive. One of the things I learned travelling Missouri, people want the government to stop intruding in their lives and businesses. While we can all agree some regulation is necessary for public safety, too much regulation causes problems and contributes to Missouri being ranked 47 out of 50 states in job growth. I know we can do better. One of my goals is to work with the legislature to make available to businesses, the tools they need to be successful.

The Missouri Senate passed Right-to-Work legislation on Wednesday evening. Pending a final reading, it will be one of the first pieces of legislation sent to the governor’s desk and signed into law.

This week I was privileged to be introduced to some of our state’s ER doctors and hospital personnel. Having heart surgery on Christmas Eve gave me a whole new perspective on our medical personnel, and showed how truly blessed we are to live in this country. During your next visit to your doctor’s office or hospital, please take time thank your doctor or nurse. They put a lot on the line to do their jobs, and I am grateful for their service.
