Staley High School’s Kyndall Truelove Among 11 Missouri Students Named to MJEA All-State Team

TrueloveEleven Missouri high school media staff members have been named to the 2016 All-State Journalism Team, sponsored by the Missouri Journalism Education Association.

Staley High School senior Kyndall Truelove is the only member of the team selected from the Kansas City metropolitan area. She is editor in chief of Legacy yearbook and has been in print journalism for four years. Last year, she also joined STTV broadcasting staff. This is her second year being on STTV staff as a reporter, anchor, director and several other positions in the control room. In her essay, she wrote, “The most enjoyable thing about journalism is getting the inside story, the whole story, and the real story. I believe too many people live off of hearsay, and I think it is my duty as a journalist to inform them of the facts.” Her adviser is Cherie Burgett.

The All-State Journalism Team recognizes those students who have proven themselves to be indispensable to their respective school media, recognizing those students who are “most valuable players” — those students whose leadership, energy, dedication, and expertise make their publications possible but whose main contributions often occur behind the scenes.

A student journalist had to be nominated by his or her adviser, who must be a member of the MJEA. Each member of the All-State Journalism Team will receive a certificate and a special engraved pen.
