The Club at MariMack is an 18-hole executive golf course located in Kearney, Missouri. The course is located just east of the intersection of I-35 and Highway 92.
The course was originally installed in 1988 by Mack Porter. Porter is a long-time Kearney resident and founder of Porters Building Center.
Late spring 2014 the Club struck ground on a 4800 square foot clubhouse and swimming pool. Unfortunately, the Club ran into some challenges in getting the clubhouse completed. Delays caused by the significant rainfall seen in Clay County, Missouri in the late spring and early summer, caused the completion of the clubhouse to be pushed until August.
In addition to the new clubhouse and swimming pool, the Club at MariMack has several other improvements to offer it’s guests. A new food and drink menu featuring sandwiches, pizzas wine, beer, and liquor. There are seven large screen TVs inside the facility that will allow guests to view various sporting throughout the year.
New cart paths were also recently poured on the golf course giving golfers a much easier way to get around the facility. The next focus for the Club is the golf course itself. Plans are in the works to improve the tee boxes and greens.
The debut of the clubhouse to the public really happened on August 14 when they hosted the Kearney, Missouri Chamber of Commerce Golf Tournament. A total of $5,000 for the Kearney, Missouri Education Foundation was raised by the Kearney Chamber. That check will be presented tomorrow night at the Kearney Bulldogs football game.
Debbie Holt is president of the Kearney Chamber and a realtor in the Northland, she told The Northland News:
“The new clubhouse at the Club at MariMack is a great addition to the Kearney area and the course.
I actually don’t play golf, so a course like this is perfect to learn on. You could tell they are making improvements everywhere, and it will be nice to see where the club is at this time next year.
As Chamber President, I am glad that we brought the tournament back to Kearney and to the Club at MariMack. Being local added so much to our event. I think we had ten teams more than we had last year as a direct result of being local. I am already looking forward to next year’s tournament!
New club mananger, Ken Wilson, told The Northland News that he is excited about the potential of the Club at MariMack. He said, “The course has easy access to it from I-35. The improvements on the grounds, once complete, will make this one of the premier par-3 golf courses in the entire Kansas City metro. We think our level of play is perfect for someone who is wanting to learn the game or not feel pressured to rush on the course because more experienced golfers are coming behind them.”
