UPDATED: Want to Buy a Grocery Store in Smithville?

A source contacted The Northland News on April 11 and told us to go to LoopNet.com. LoopNet is a commercial real estate listing site. We were told to enter the property location of Smithville.

If you do the same thing, you will find that the building the Cosentino’s Price Chopper is located in is actively listed for sale.

If you’re interested in buying, it will take about $3.3 million dollars. You can click here for the listing flyer.

We’re unsure of any more details at this time. We have reached out to Price Chopper and Smithville Mayor Bryan Fullmer for comment. We’ll update this post if we receive any more information.

Updated 4/12/2017 9:23 AM: Price Chopper reached out this morning with an official response.

Smithville, MO: This week it was announced by The Northland News that the building in which Cosentino’s Price Chopper resides is for sale. While the building is for sale, Cosentino’s will continue to operate out of this location.

Cosentino’s Owner Victor Cosentino said, “We have no plans to leave Smithville. We are honored to have the opportunity to serve the Smithville community, and plan to continue to do so.”

We followed up with another question asking if there were any plans to build a new store in Smithville and if that was the reason for the sale.

Price Chopper responded that they don’t actually own the building right now. Price Chopper leases the property from the current owner and intends on leasing the property from the new owner.
