Teamwork, leadership, consensus and commitment will be among the topics at the Look North Leadership Breakfast at Harrah’s North Kansas City Oct. 7.
Keynote speaker Joy Wilkins, CEcD, will leverage her experience as an economic development adviser, facilitator, instructor and author. Wilkins is an advocate of effective partnerships, high-performance teams and engaged community leaders. She works in both the public and private spheres to promote business retention and expansion, economic recovery, entrepreneur development, human services, marketing and recruitment, public policy and workforce development.
A senior public service faculty member with the University of Georgia, Wilkins is also a group manager and project director with Georgia Tech. She has served in lead roles with the Metro Atlanta Chamber and a software development start-up. Besides her consulting practice, Wilkins serves as an adjunct faculty member with the University of North Carolina, School of Government, and as a course instructor for the International Economic Development Council (IEDC) and the Basic Economic Development Course (BEDC).
Sponsored by the Clay County Economic Development Council, the event begins with registration at 7:15 a.m. and the breakfast at 7:30 a.m.
The program will also include presentation of the EDC’s prestigious Look North Leadership Award. The annual honor recognizes invaluable contributions to economic development and quality of life in Clay County.
